In the wake of the global credit crisis, Iceland has reconsidered its position regarding the EU and is now actively pursuing membership. However, to become part of the club, the island would have to give up its whaling tradition.

Icelandic Whaling/EU Acceptance

Iceland should give up whaling. It is a barbaric part of our human past that should whither and die from our culture. It is not of significant economic need and is detrimental to the environment. Anyway I think it would be wise of Iceland to look foreword in economic and political progress of joining the EU verse staying in the primitive past of a hunting culture.
