AFP - Six people died and 39 were injured in a bus accident involving Dutch tourists late Thursday at San Pol de Mar near Barcelona in northeast Spain, local officials and media reports said.

"There are six dead and 39 injured, some seriously, out of a total 65 passengers," a Catalonian fire brigade spokesman told AFP.

He was unable to give the nationalities of the victims, but media reports said the coach that crashed was carrying mostly Dutch nationals who had been visiting Barcelona.

The accident occurred at 11:13 pm (2113 GMT) in circumstances that had yet to be determined, the fire brigade spokesman said.

Media reports said the coach left the road on a bend before hitting a car and overturning. Police, firemen and ambulances arrived quickly on the scene and the injured were taken to hospital.
