The Guardian
“The lost generation: surge in joblessness hits young”
According to the latest figures, the unemployment rate has jumped by 220,000 in just three months.
Now almost 2.5 million people in Great Britain are jobless, and according to the Guardian, half of the jobs lost over the past year, were those of youngsters.
The Guardian interviewed a couple of youths.
Amongst them, Alex Colbert, 25.
He’s unemployed, and says he’s looking for a job in accounting.
He subscribed to applications online, but he said every time he went on the website, he saw 40 other applicants on it.
“It’s frightening” he says.

“Betrayed generation: one in five young people jobless”
Daily Express also talks about unemployment… One in five young people are jobless reads the title.
The newspaper blames Labour, the ruling party.
It says Labour ministers shocked the country yesterday, when they claimed that Government action had saved more than half a million jobs.
But in reality, this did not benefit the younger generation.
According to the newspaper, Britain’s youth unemployment figure is now the highest in Europe.
USA Today
Obama battles health care 'chatter'
USA Today descirbes how thousands of Americans protested against the healthcare reforms, backed by Barack Obama.
They accuse him of being a socialist. They accuse the Government of wanting to take over private healthcare.
They say the reforms are too expensive, they will lower the standards, and kill off private enterprises.
The newspaper interviewed several congressmen.
John Dingell says that with these reforms, “You may be dead in five years. They may euthanize you”
Barack Obama says it’s all a misunderstanding and has denied allegations that he planned to “pull the plug on Granma”.
The Independent
“Now Chavez takes a swing at golf”
The Venezuelian President, Hugo Chavez seems to like criticizing the United States.
He calls them the “Yankees”, the “Capitalists”, the “evil oil conglomerates”.
Now, according to The Independent, Chavez takes a swing at golf.
He has already shut down nine golf courses, in the past three years.
He says the courses are better off being used for housing.
The Hindu
“353 new species found in Himalayas”
More than 350 new species have been discovered in Eastern Himalayas.
Amongst them, a flying frog and the world’s smallest deer.
Hindu shows the photo of a new species of monkeys, the first to have been found in over a century.
But the article warns that with deforestation, poaching, and climate change, it could well be one of the last discoveries ever made.

“Smile! Squirrel muscles in on holiday snap”
It’s the story of a young couple, the Brandts, who went on a romantic holiday in Canada.
They took a few pictures, put them on self-timer and here’s the result: a cheeky squirrel invited himself in the shoot.
It seems, he was attracted by the sound of the camera.
