This is the dumbest situation possible. How can they even think about holding any type of FAIR elections while the country is being invaded by the U.S. Does anyone actually believe the citizens of Afghanistan are going to sincerely have faith in any of the candidates? The candidates are not true representative of the nation. They are being asked to vote for U.S. approved candidates. It's quite frankly a farce and not a real election. What a joke.

Expectations are low enough, but it was hoped that they wouldn't be strapped to General Rashid Dostum's tank tracks and driven into the ground, as seems appropriate from Hamid Karzai's perspective on democracy, in the 21st century.

doesn't sound good... not sure if i would go out and vote myself. local counting at the poll stations? maybe a good idea... if there's no strongarming and no violence.
