Libération
The summer is coming to an end for French politicians…
Today, the green party- led by Daniel Cohn Bendit, is meeting for its annual “Journée d’été” or “summer day.
All political parties meet separately, after their summer holidays, to decide on future plans.
“This is the man who scares the left wing party”, says Libération.
The newspaper went to his holiday home in Hérault, South of France.
The Green leader is described as a “political animal”
In the morning, he reportedly reads every newspaper and always has politics in mind.
His aim: beat the French socialist at the 2010 local elections.
It’s important to note that the Green party did extremely well during the European elections last June, with around 16%.
So at today’s meeting, Cohn Bendit plans to tell his party that they are able to challenge the left and defy the right.
Libération
A report by French police inspectors has found that French policemen have not followed the rules.
Libération explains that flash-ball guns are often used by riot police, but this year, five civilians have had severe injuries to their faces, because flash-balls were allegedly mishandled by authorities.
The newspaper talks about the case of Joachim Gatti.
The 34 year old lost his eye, when police intervened during a protest in an Eastern Suburb of Paris.
No one knows which police officer caused this, but an investigation is ongoing.
Aujourd’hui en France
Fadila, a 60 year old woman from Saint-Denis- a suburb in the French capital is getting ready for Ramadan, just like just like 4.4 million Muslims in France.
But they don’t know yet when Ramadan is starting. It could be tomorrow or Saturday, according to the lunar calendar.
Fadila explains that the month of fasting will be very difficult.
During Ramadan, Muslims are not allowed eat, drink or smoke when the sun is up.
But the days are very long at the moment: around 15 hours.
A doctor advises people things like carbohydrates or dry fruit, to keep your energy levels up.

41.2°C… that’s how hot it was yesterday, in Aveyron, Southern of France.
Aujourd’hui en France says it was the hottest day of the year, in France… A heat wave that we hadn’t experienced in three years.
Rue 89
The website Rue 89 asks if it’s too hot to work.
The article says that there’s no law that tells us when it’s too hot to work.
According to researchers, when the temperature reaches 30°, it becomes unbearable. And whatever your job, the heat will make you excessively tired.
