It is imperative that Roberto Micheletti and his team stay the course. The withdrawal of US aid is a temporary setback. But if the interim administration of Honduras buckles to these unreasonable coercions and demands, Honduras will always be dependent upon foreign handouts, in lieu of foreign and domestic investments, which demand institutions underpinned by a sound political system, so as to minimise risk, whenever authority is transferred via democracy, to future administrations. Hugo Chavez and his regional lickspittles have destroyed their economies. Honduras needs to safeguard the meager economy it has, and be able to develop it, in a sustainable and responsible fashion.
