Poll shows support for Lisbon Treaty slipping

We have the same termites in North America

This is just another plank in the race to globalization. Fear of economic consequences is not a legitimate argument for signing the Lisbon Treaty. The reality of loosing a nation and sovereign entities in the rest of Europe is a big concern. The treaty itself is so ambiguous, the danger of future interpretation by those who are self serving will alter Ireland forever. If you wish to throw away the rule of law and all national interests and give it to greedy self serving foreign globalists.......then stick your head in the noose and vote yes. I find it hard to imagine any one being that naive. VOTE NO! THEN KICK THE USURPERS IN THE IRISH PARLIAMENT OUT!

Yes to be united

I respect the Irish people a lot, they fought a long battle to be free, but the Lisbon Treaty is no threat to their freedom in any way. we have to make EU work better, more effective etc, and we can only achieve that by being united. sometimes it may bring some sacrificies but we have to think big and think of the future. thus i would vote Yes.

Reality check.

Ireland does have a means to vote down the Lisbon Treaty, but the EU can get along just fine without Ireland. If push comes to shove, Ireland could survive without the EU, but the Irish, of the Republic of Ireland, neither have the will within the context of their social-partner economy (freeloading good Europeans) to make that a reality, nor would they enjoy the lifestyle of their south American counterparts, whose virtues they advocate and enjoy recreational time with, but do not have to suffer.

The simple truth of the matter

Of the 27 EU nations, only Ireland is constitutionally bound to hold a referendum on the treaty, which is designed to improve decision-making in a greatly expanded bloc. Almost all the EU members have endorsed the treaty through votes in their national parliaments.

Translation: Of all the European countries only ONE trusts its own people.
