German and French operators in talks to take over UK market

It is interesting how both Deutsche Telcom (owner of T-Mobile UK), and France Telecom (owner of Orange UK) take full advantage of the UK free market system,though Germany and France,espically France are extremely protectionist when UK companies wish to enter there markets? The EU constantly talks of a equal and free market system in Europe? Many countires in the EU are still heavily protectionist agiant outside competition,and Brussels sits on its hands,and does nothing? Why? It is wrong and holds back EU ecomonic growth in the long term.
