Three-times French League Cup winners Paris St Germain won 1-0 at Boulogne on Wednesday to earn their place in the fourth round as Ligue 1 strugglers Saint Etienne thrashed Nice 4-1. Top-flight Auxerre were knocked out 2-1 by Ligue 2 side Sedan.

REUTERS - Jean-Eudes Maurice's goal on the hour gave three-times French League Cup winners Paris St Germain a 1-0 win at Boulogne and a place in the fourth round on Wednesday.

Forward Maurice connected with a Youdousse Sankhare cross and fired home from close range.

Ligue 1 strugglers St Etienne found something to cheer about when they thrashed Nice 4-1, while Ligue 2 side Sedan knocked out top-flight AJ Auxerre 2-1.

RC Lens went through with a 4-3 victory at Montpellier, with defender Romain Sartre netting the winner in extra time after the opening 90 minutes ended in a 3-3 draw.

Holders Girondins Bordeaux, Olympique Marseille, Olympique Lyon, Lille and Toulouse were exempt from third round action because they are involved in European competition.
