Why is the Obama administration idiotically trying to politically prop up the dying Castro regime? As soon as Fidel dies brother Raul will flee the country with as much of the national treasury as he can steal and that will be the end of the "communist" government of Cuba--which was really a corrupt one-family Castro oligarchy since its inception. Obama once again demonstrates his astonishing ability to wrong-foot any and every political, economic, domestic and international situation which presents itself. Amazing!
What I would like Mr. Kenneth T. Tellis - explain with the same powerfull brain of him is this: In which part of the world Democracy Exist?
Please let me know to move there.
There certainly is something haywire about the U.S. sanctions against Cuba. If as the U.S. claims that its sanctions are because Cuba is a COMMUNIST STATE, then why does the U.S. trade with CHINA and VIETNAM? To methis is all baloney, because of the U.S. failure to set up a satrap and take control of the country.
But, we should understand that the U.S. itself is not a DEMOCRACY, but a REPUBLIC based on the CAPITALIST theory of corporate RULE, rather than a government of the PEOPLE. Today the U.S. is not really any different to the Soviet Union of yesteryear. U.S./S.U. Just reverse the letters to mean what has happened.
