"Discord in Sarkoland"

In today’s French press review, we talks about President Nicolas Sarkozy who is half way through his mandate.

The left-wing newspaper Libération talks about a “Discord in Sarko Land”.

It says members of Sarkozy’s own party disagree with many of his plans, including the national loan and the business tax the President plans to scrap.

The right-wing newspaper Le Figaro sets a different tone.
Considering Sarkozy’s difficult start in office, with the economic crisis and numerous reforms to undertake, the paper says the “hyperactive” leader is doing well.

On other news, Jacques Chirac gave an exclusive interview to Le Figaro. The former French President is accused of corruption, and says he is determined to prove his innocence.

We also look at a new type of “female housing” in the South of France, and talk about the next Miss France competition.
