Irish view French coach Raymond Domenech as weak link

With two days to go before the first of two play-off matches between Ireland and France for World Cup qualification, l’Equipe reveals what the Irish think of French coach Raymond Domenech: he’s the key to an Irish victory.

By James CREEDON

“The luck of the Irish, it’s him,” reads the headline in sports paper l’Equipe. The photo is of beleagured French coach Raymond Domenech. The paper says the Irish are counting on Domenech’s incompetence to see France eliminated from the play off stages. The dominant feeling in Ireland is that France has better players but Ireland has a better trainer in the person of Italian coach, Giovanni Trapattoni.

The former Irish international player and sports commentator Tony Cascarino has said that Domenech would have been fired a long time ago if he were England’s coach or even Ireland’s coach.

“Many of his choices have been strange,” says Cascarino. “He’s a guy who doesn’t seem to have ideas, who masters nothing and with so many good players available to him he has still not created a team.”

Dominech must go!

I have watched 2 matches between Ireland and France. Frankly speaking "les bleus"; as individual player hve got what it takes! But as a team, there far behind Asian teams! Mr dominech has no skills to bring those talents in the pitch. Plz sack this guy if you want the 2010 cup!...
