Egypt recalls ambassador from Algeria over football violence
Egypt has recalled its ambassador to Algeria for consultation following attacks on Egyptian football fans and businesses in Sudan, after Algeria beat Egypt in a 2010 World Cup qualifier play-off.

AFP - Egypt recalled its ambassador in Algeria for consultations on Thursday after attacks against Egyptian football fans in Sudan and businesses in Algiers, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
An Egyptian foreign ministry official confirmed to AFP that the ambassador was recalled for "consultations". Earlier in the day, Egypt summoned the Algerian ambassador in Cairo to protest against the disturbances.
The foreign ministry said that it informed the ambassador of "Egypt's extreme displeasure with the assaults on Egyptian citizens who went to Khartoum to support the Egyptian team."
It was the second summons in a week for ambassador Abdel Qader Haggar, who was called to the foreign ministry last week after Algerian fans attacked Egyptian businesses and homes in Algiers.
"Egypt also expressed its outrage and it denunciation after continuing reports and many appeals from Egyptian citizens residing in Algeria over the assaults and intimidation they face," the statement said.
Khartoum police spokesman Abdel Majid al-Tayeb played down the level of violence after the game in which Egypt were defeated 1-0 and lost the chance to advance to the World Cup finals in South Africa next year.
"There were minor incidents, four people were lightly wounded," Tayeb told a press conference.
But Egyptian fans told AFP that stones were thrown at their bus as they made their way back to Khartoum airport after the loss which followed a 2-0 victory in Cairo on Saturday.
In an interview with state television, Egyptian Health Minister Hatem al-Gabali said 21 Egyptians were injured in attacks in Sudan.
"There were 21 injured... All of them are considered minor injuries," he said.
Before the match in Cairo, several Algerian footballers were hurt after the team bus was stoned on the way from the airport to the team hotel.
A similar fate befell some visiting supporters after Egypt won the game, leaving the teams neck and neck in their qualifying group and triggering the replay in Khartoum.
People then took to the streets in Algiers, attacking 15 offices belonging to a local subsidiary of Egypt's Orascom Telecom and twice ransacking the Algiers offices of Egypt Air.
The attacks prompted Orascom to pull out 25 Egyptian employees and their families.
In its statement, the foreign ministry said that the Egyptian companies had begun seeking compensation for the losses sustained in the attacks.
Orascom executive chief Naguib Sawaris said earlier this week that Orascom suffered at least five million dollars in damage.

BIZARRE AND SHAME ON YOU.
I just want to prove to Egyptians who believes that Algerian fans waved and attacked them with knives calling them terrorists. THAT IS NOT TRUE. I have been watching numerous videos in relation to what happened during the Egypt/Algeria games. There is a video clip clearly showing people waving knives in the air but who are they? Certainly these people were NOT ALGERIAN FANS IN SUDAN.
1-The whole world saw that Khartoum was inundated with Algerians wearing white/green in every street corner of Khartoum. I examined this video clip thoroughly. What I really noticed and attracted my attention was the fact that NO ONE, NOT A SINGLE PERSON WAVING KNIVES WAS WEARING TRADITIONAL ALGERIAN COLOURS(WHITE /GREEN) FOOTBALL SHIRT, HATS, TRACKSUITS AND NO ALGERIAN FLAGS WERE VISIBLE OR SEEN ANYWHERE IN THAT VIDEO CLIP. BIZARRE
2-The title of the video clip is EGYPTIAN JOURNALIST CONFIRMS THE LIES OF EGYPTIAN MEDIA IN SUDAN.
3- What is the purpose of Algerian players injuring themselves on the bus and for what reason? They are professional players and they are not scared to play a football game wherever it may be. Another video clip confirming and showing the Algerian players bus being stoned as they left the hotel after the game in Egypt. You can se it on THE ANSWER TO EGYPTIAN MEDIA LIES WHICH IS TRYING TO PLAY A POLITICAL GAME video clip. It shows Egyptian thugs clearly throwing stones at the bus. Check both video clips yourselves, SHAME ON YOU EGYPTIAN MEDIA.
Message to all Egyptians WAKE UP don’t let the Media control you eyes and ears. Some Egyptians who are conscious such as the journalist and some artists called to denounce and condemn all these lies to keep the peace and faith between the two nations. But the Media incite and provoke hatred. What happened in 1989 finished 20 years ago, but the Media kept bringing it up over and over again just before Saturday 14th November game to inflame, stimulate and push Egyptian people to an extreme anger. We Algerians we don’t care whether you recall you ambassador or break the relationship as we don’t need you. All I want to say is “SHAME ON YOU”.
Arab Brothers?
Arabs have spent all these decades undermining each other and holding each other down. Thank God for these events. The travesty of Arab brotherhood is hopefully finally over. This is an opportunity for those Algerians who have blindly followed the hypocritical propaganda of "Arab unity" and have embraced its backward culture and narrow-minded vision of the world to come to their senses. They are not Arab and they were never liked nor accepted by them.
Algeria has nothing to lose in this sad affair; they have shown great restrain and grace in the face of the chaos unleashed by desperate buffoons. Algeria should learn its lesson and end decades of political, cultural, and religious Islamo-Arab imperialism (spearheaded by Egypt) that robbed her of its soul, identity, and promise for the future. Algeria should sever diplomatic relations with Egypt and withdraw from the corrupt, incompetent, and ineffectual Club of Buffoons called the Arab League. This may well be the beginning a new era of peace and prosperity for Algerians--if they are wise enough to change course.

it`s a joke
what will happened if you invited me to a party and i have sent my wife and children and you have sent criminals and prisoners with knifes and guns,to kill my family. that`s what happened in Sudan attacks, the Algerians sent criminals and prisoners with knifes and the egyptions sent actors and children even they sent their president`s sons. they followed the egyptions fans in the streets after the match and starting an elimination operation with the help of their air force because 20 minutes before the match 2 Algerian air force planes land down in Sudan airport with Algerian swat to kill the egyption`s fans in case they won the game. i don`t think thats sport any more.
Violance
Someone has to stop this violance.
If FIFA lets this go then every fan is subject to violance with every football match.
