"The Swiss say NON to minarets"
In today’s French press review, we look at Switzerland’s decision to ban the construction of minarets.
Nearly 60% of Swiss voters approved the decision to ban minarets, in a referendum on Sunday.
The left wing newspaper Libération calls it “the vote of shame” and a discrimination against the Muslim population.
Le Figaro says the debate has now spread to France. On Sunday, the ruling Party’s Secretary General, Xavier Bertrand said the country didn’t “necessarily need minarets”
On other news, Aujourd’hui en France reports about the 25th anniversary of the Resto du Cœur. The French charity distributes free meals to the poor. With the economic crisis, its help is “more needed than ever” says the paper.
Meanwhile, Libération talks about the growing market of organic pet food. And in sports news, France Soir talks about the storm of criticism that has hit the French football coach.
