Miss Normandy, 22-year-old Malika Ménard, took the title of Miss France on Saturday, while Miss Rhône-Alpes was designated second runner-up.
Ménard, who lives in Caen and studies law, won the 63rd annual Miss France contest among five finalists: Miss Rhône-Alpes took second place followed by Miss Brittany, Miss Provence and Miss Quercy-Rouergue.
For the first time this year Miss France was chosen from the five finalists by the public, but the decision was presided over by actress Arielle Dombasle.
The new Miss France was set to answer questions at a press conference accompanied by the president of the Miss France committee, Geneviève de Fontenay.
