France/ burqa enquiry: the final chapter?
In January, a French parliamentary committee is due to hand in its conclusions on whether to ban the full Islamic veil (known in France as the burqa) in public. In the meantime, French government ministers and conservative politicians are starting to weigh in on the debate, but do not agree on the form a possible ban could take. So can we expect there to be a law banning the burqa, and if so, how broad should it be?
