Baby boomers a ‘spoilt’ generation (Le Parisien)

FRENCH PRESS REVIEW: 60-70 year olds have been spared the effects of the crisis, unlike other age groups, according to a poll conducted in France by Ipsos. The study also shows baby boomers are largely unwilling to make sacrifices for their families!

By James CREEDON

Enjoying their retirement on generous pensions, the baby boom generation has been spared the ravages of the economic crisis, says today’s Le Parisien. Subsequent generations will not have it so easy though and the paper dubs baby boomers a “privileged” lot, perhaps even spoilt?

According to an “Ipsos” opinion poll, 60-70 year olds are largely unwilling to make sacrifices when it comes to helping out their family. 59% of those questioned said they help out their family so long as it doesn’t deprive them of free time and fun. 20% said they help out even if it means making sacrifices while 18% said they don’t help out family members because “they don’t need help”.
