Disappointment online following the Copenhagen Conference
In this edition :the blogosphere shares its disappointment following the Copenhagen Climate Conference, the Web mobilises to end violent acts on prostitutes and musicians compose a techno song with help from their car.
FAILURE IN COPENHAGEN
Disappointment reigns in the blogosphere following the Copenhagen Climate Conference. Due to lack of consensus between the countries gathered in the Danish capital, the summit only resulted in a text of limited ambitions- non-binding from a legal standpoint.
On Twitter, many net users express their bitterness, describing the conference as a veritable disaster.
A feeling of indignation also reigns amongst activists, who have mobilised in recent days. In this video, protesters carry torches to express their anger in the streets of Copenhagen.
At the other side of the world in Australia, these ecologist militants orchestrated a show in a shopping centre. A polar bear is presented as a victim of the conference, denouncing a fiasco.
And these Canadians organised a gathering before the Parliament buildings. The aim being to criticise the inaction of their leaders by altering the words of their national anthem.
However, some wish to remain optimistic and are urging civil society not to demobilise. Net users around the planet are continuing to send in messages of hope to this site to maintain pressure on world leaders with, in the line of sight, the Mexico conference, set for 2010.
PROSTITUTION AND VIOLENCE
Put an end to violent acts against prostitutes. This is the aim of a mobilisation campaign led online to protest against crimes committed against sex workers. A campaign which follows the international day to end this violence.
This documentary filmed in Macedonia and posted online by ‘Hub Witness’, appeals for prostitutes’ rights. Many describe the difficulties associated with living somewhere where their rights are flouted and where they are abused. Discrimination leading to violence and stigmatisation.
Violence also due to the association between prostitution and AIDS. This short documentary broadcast online shows the work of an Indian NGO. Prostitutes run AIDS prevention campaigns, alongside educators, after learning their own rights and the dangers they face.
This organisation, founded by a former sex worker, considers that prostitution itself is a form of violence against women. She posted this song online, calling for the legalisation of prostitution to be prevented and to criminalise the pursuit of fee-based sexual services.
FENG ZHENGHU
Chinese human rights militant, Feng Zhenhu, has been living and waiting in Narita airport in Japan since November four, when for the eighth time, he was forbidden entry by the Shanghai immigration services to his own country. He is refusing political asylum in Japan and passengers regularly provide him with food. He recently created a blog and Twitter account, with which he recounts his daily experiences as a refugee.

Here is an original site whose declared aim is to help net users commit social suicide, that is, to close their Facebook account automatically. In reality, seppukoo.com is symbolic, as only the Facebook profile will be deactivated. A site which describes itself as the web’s first ‘antisocial’ network!
VIDEO OF THE DAY
Create a techno song using only the sounds produced by the different components of a car. This is the original idea hatched by these young musicians. The engine being started, the slamming of the doors and the atomised locking system, with an overall successful result.
