“Sweet talk in French politics”
In today’s press review, we look at what 2009 was like for French politicians. Discover the “biggest fibs of the year”.
The left wing newspaper Libération reviews the past year, in the world of French politics.
“The biggest fibs of the year”, reads the title. According to the article, the French President is “the biggest liar of all”.
Libération quotes several other political figures, including Nicolas Sarkozy’s socialist rivals Ségolène Royal and Martine Aubry.
In other news, the right-wing newspaper Le Figaro reports about the so called “Taxe Carbonne”, or tax on carbon emitting products.
A government body has rejected the tax, which was supposed to be applied on January 1st... A setback for the French government.
Meanwhile, Aujourd’hui en France investigates illegal gangs, human trafficking and immigration.
Some smugglers are believed to charge immigrants up to 20,000 euros each, to reach Great Britain.
