French is dead, long live English Rwanda!

I think both languages are imjportant in Rwanda. NOt only is French the language of the largest number of nations in Africa, but Rwanda's proximity to francoophone Burundi is a factor. We hope that the French govt. can wake up & begin a slow renewal of French in Rwabad nda, but it will take years to do because of the bad blood caused by france's role inthe genocide. For whatever reason, apparently language is a tool in int'l diplomacy. We value the French language worldwide & hope Rwanda does keep french as a nat'l language as well as, now, English coming in. why english remplace french in this century? espeically in biz world?? if the world peopoel to people need to communicate well, the best way they can use an easy language like english to know each other, not just stick to the strict grammme, literal language, arts language..etc.etc..french bring this world what?? france and his language are a history for longtime ago, people is awaring of that, english is much easier for each other, and not stiff ..for exemple, student finished study in france, can not find a good-paid job in china, but if they speak good english, they can easily find a good job and travel outside without any barriers...if spending so much time, cost to learn one foreign language, of couse , it is for the paid-back well..sorry for my ignorance, if you french dont agree..but the truth in the world. .we can keep silence, but we can see it clearly

congratulations Rwanda. Good step. I love the testimony of the school principal who says english is very liberating unlike french.

There are other examples of bilingual countries in the world: In Mauritius, that is pretty successful economically,the government has been wise enough to nurture multilingualism, as do the Dutch who can usually speak three to four languages, the Swiss who may speak up to three, unlike the Canadians who speak either French of English or the Belgians who speak either French or Flemish. In Vanuatu, the early English-speaking government waged a war against the French language and influence, partly succeeded, enough to weaken the French,not enough to eliminate it and thus handicapping 30% of its human resources. The Rwandans have chosen the same route and got rid of the French. What is forever forbidden to people who can speak only one language is the incredible intellectual riches brought by the knowledge of foreign languages. Evidemment, ces personnes ne s'en rendent pas compte et ne peuvent le comprendre. So ist das Leben dass es unmoglich ist, die Vorurteilen diesen Schachsinningen zu beseitigen. Anyway, to all rwandans gambate kudasai.

Rwanda, has demonstrated maturity and manhood to ditch France for it's involvement in the genocide, I wish many African countries should do that to their former colonies....

Les rwandais ont compris et j'espère que toutes les anciennes colonies française petit à petit comprendront qu'ils ont tout à gagner et rien à perdre en quittant la francophonie pour se rallier au Commonwealth.

Les Français ne meritent que Ca. Ils sont indignes d'avoir leur langue avoir de l'estime et ou de respect dans le monde. Je ne suis pas étonné que les Rwandais soient victimes d'un peuple qui ne sait plus où il est. La France sans François Mitterrand, Sans le Général De Gaule, c'est une France qui disparait, qui se meurt au jour le jour. Un exemple; L'histoire n'est plus une obligation pour les Français. Cela ne demande pas de'lintellingece pour comprendre où Sarkozy veut en venir.

Si l'économie française est forte, il ira de soit que les peuples, le monde entier fera TOUT pour apprendre le Français. Vous me faites honte. J'ai grandi en Aix-En-Provence et je sais bien que le gouvernement actuel est entrain de trahir La France. La seule raison est celle-ci: comment ce fait-il que les Français ont choisi les Juifs pour diriger le Pays de Charles de Gaules, de Montesquieu, de Jean Jeacques Rousseau? shame on YOU.
