Yemen: Al Qaeda's Safe Haven?

Yemen, in the south-west of the Arabian peninsula, has become Al Qaeda’s new sanctuary in the past few months. Two recent events have thrust this into the forefront of international debate: the shot in an American military base and the failed terrorist attempt aboard the flight to Detroit, the responsibility of which was claimed by AQAP (Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula).

Debate hosted France 24's Mark Owen with guests:

Mathieu GUIDÈRE, Professor at the University of Geneva and Co-author of « Le Manuel de recrutement d’Al Qaeda »
Ginny HILL, Journalist and Filmmaker and Director of the Yemen Forum at Chatham House (Satellite from London, UK)
Abdul-Ghani AL-IRYANI, Independent Political Consultant (via Satellite from Sana’a, Yemen)

Programme prepared by Perrine Desplats
