French champions Bordeaux left it late to beat third division Rodez (1-0) while Lyon ousted second division Racing Strasbourg (3-1) on a night of numerous postponements due to freezing weather.

REUTERS - Ligue 1 champions Girondins Bordeaux needed a late penalty to beat third division Rodez 1-0 in the French Cup round of 64 on a freezing Saturday that
triggered a host of postponements.

Bordeaux worried their fans until Czech midfielder Jaroslav Plasil was fouled in the box and Brazilian midfielder Wendelconverted the resulting penalty 13 minutes from time.
Ligue 1 sides were entering the competition and there was one top flight clash with Le Mans beating visitors Valenciennes thanks to a first-half goal by forward Anthony Le Tallec.

Monaco survived a few scares at home to second division Tours in a match that ended 0-0 after extra time.

The principality team then won the shootout 4-3, Tours missing the target with one penalty and having another saved by France under-21 goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier.

Olympique Lyon qualified in more impressive fashion with a 3-1 win at second division Racing Strasbourg featuring two goals by Brazilian winger Michel Bastos.

Several matches were called off because of wintry conditions, among them the visit of second-placed Ligue 1 side Lille to fourth division Colmar.
