President re-emerges after seven-week absence
Nigerian President Umaru Yar’Adua broke seven weeks of silence on Tuesday, telling the BBC he was recovering from a heart condition, amid growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians over the political uncertainty of the country.
By News Wires (text)
REUTERS - Nigerian President Umaru Yar’Adua said in his first interview since going into hospital in Saudi Arabia seven weeks ago for a heart condition that he was recovering, the BBC reported on Tuesday.
Speculation over his health and the fact that he had maintained executive powers despite his silence had brought growing unease in the oil-producing country of 140 million.
Nigerian religious leaders, politicians and educators plan a mass rally in Abuja on Tuesday to demand that the government put an end to the uncertainty.
The British Broadcasting Corporation said Yar’Adua had spoken by telephone.
“At the moment I am undergoing treatment, and I’m getting better from the treatment. I hope that very soon there will be tremendous progress, which will allow me to get back home,” he was quoted as saying on the BBC website.
“I wish, at this stage, to thank all Nigerians for their prayers for my good health, and for their prayers for the nation.”
Yar’Adua’s refusal to transfer powers to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has prompted a lawsuit from the Nigerian Bar Association, slowed government business, and threatens to renew violence in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
Parliament returns from recess on Tuesday and is expected to address the issue of Yar’Adua’s prolonged absence.

Transfer of accummulated Pension Funds to various PFAs
Over the promised five years for NSITF to transfer our pension through PenCom to our private funds administrators, what is delaying the transfer? IBTC claims not to have received our monies yet. We need our hard earned money NOW.
President re-emerges after seven weeks silence
My thinking is that our dear PRESIDENT is so weighed down with this illness that he has forgotten that he is a President of a country; otherwise, our president is an honourable man who would'nt let the country to drift.I sincerely wish him fast recovery.

Good For Nigerians
Another history has been made again in nigeria.
THANKS TO GOD ALMIGHTY
POLITICAL SITUATION IN NIGERIA
we pray for the presidents quick recovery. but let him remember that after his swearing in as president and commander in chief of the Armed Forces of nigeria, subject to his adress he made promise that the system through which he came to power has flaws and that he will attend to it. later our president inaugrated a panel headed by rtd CJN, who brought out a recomendation, which our president never signed untill he fall sick.I no when he returns, it will be the first thing he will attend before the seven point agenda.GOD save NIGERIA.
hope that things will return
hope that things will return to normalty.but one thing i must not fail to say to nigerians, is that the acting president should be allowed to do the work he has been called to do

PRIDENT RE-EMERGES AFTER SEVEN-WEEK ABSENCE
It better be that he is coming back soon. The country have seen hell since his prolonged absence from the country and from the office. He ought to have properly informed the country about the whole situation before now so that the ruled can keep quite. Any way, he has spoken and we pray and hope he recovers soon and come back to us.
Thank you.

POSITIVE CHANGE
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT I WISH ALL NIGERIAN D BEST MOST EXSPECIALLY D PARLIAMENT 4 TAKING D DISCION THEY TOOK,BUT PLS TELL YAR;ADUA TO GET BERTER SONE AND HE SHOULD NOT HOLD HIS COUNTRY TO RANSOME.THIS GREAT COUNTRY MUST MOVE FORWARD WITH HIM. AND ASO ROKE IS NOT HIS FATHER'S HOUSE.
WHY YAR'ADUA WILL RATHER DIE THAN HAND OVER TO GOODLUCK
Strongly peaking, if Good luck does not sack people like Mike Aondokaa, and ojo maduekwe, he is digging his own grave with his eyes wide open.
A lot of work has to be done on the security detailes in the country, because the NORTH, BELIEVE THAT NIGERIA BELONGS TO THE HAUSA'S AND THE NORTH AS A WHOLE.
GOODLUCK AND OTHER TRIBES ARE SEEN AS MEER MESSENGERS AND STRANGERS TO NIGERIA.
YOU KNOW THE WHOLE ARMY IS FULL OF THE SAME HAUSE FANATICS, LIKE WISE THE AIRFORCE , BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS SECURE STRATEGIC DEFENCE OFFICES SO AS TO BE ABLE TO ENGAGE THE CHRISTIANS EFFECTIVELY IN RELIGIOUS WARS.
REMEMBER THE JOS MAYHEM?
i wish him quik recovery
BUT SINCERELY THIS COUNTRY IS SUFFERING I MUST CONFESS TO YOU SIR/MADAM.LET THIS MAN CALL MR, PRESIDENT LET US BE.WE ARE SUFFERING,VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING IS NOT WORKING
YAR'ADUA'S LONG ABSENCE
RUBBISHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH......TO LATE FOR DIS.
President re-emerges after seven weeks absence
why should the Nigeria President speak to BBC instead of NTA? I think Nigeria has very good radio or television houses that are capable of carrying international and world news. I believe President Yaradua did not speak to BBC because he knows better.
President Yaradua's Long Absence
This looks to me like a comedy that makes people cry instead of laugh. The situation could be interpreted to mean that the President and all around him don't understand, nor practise rule of law as porpoted. They should follow what is right and swear-in the vicepresident as acting president so that the nation can move forward. They are making it look like the whole nation should wait and rot while the president recouperates- very laughable and painful.
recovering or re-sick
was that a recovering or re-sick,because that was the last we heard from the dude or should we wait for another seven months or seven years to watch another movie of the most popular Nigerian at present on BBC???
7 Points Agenda Is It Still Achievable
I wonder how the ailing president would atleast make one out of the 7points agenda possible with the remaining period of his tenure.
A COUNTRY WITH DIFFERENT DISTATER
HOW WILL A PERSON THAT IS NOT HEALTH OK BE OUR PRESIDENT? IT IS A SORRY CASE. IT BETTER WE DO SOMETHING NOW, BEFORE SOMETHINGELSE HAPPEN.
A Lesson For Nigeria
Perhaps this would teach those in the top positions in this country a lesson thta they should do good things to their country.Supposing there is a good hospital with adequate facilities to cater for such ailment as Acute Pericardities there won't be any need to take the president out of this country. Can you imagine president Barrack Obama to be brought to this country for heaqlth treatment when it is not spiritual consultation he needs.
YAR ADUA
I PRAY FOR MY PRESIDENT THAT MAY GOD DELIVER HIM FROM SICKNESS AND GIVE HIM STRENGHT SO THA HE CAN RULE US VERY WELL.
concenring the president
nigeria what is going on let the national assemley come to together and put thing to together instead of allowing everybody put aside and nothing is be done, this is not a democracy
Nigerians
What is todays date..!
Absence of Yaradua
He should resign. That's all I've got to say!
WHAT A COUNTRY
Some times I wonder what some political class think we are. We have a serious leadership at hand which has been heating up the polity for sometime now and somebody is telling 150m Nigerians that our ailing President spoke to BBC about his health condition. Of what significance is that. Let him talk to us and not BBC. Its an insult for people to play politics with such a serious issue and do not think that we deserve that, seriously. Anayo Mbachu
On Yar Adua's Abscence
Its very regrettable that a country I call mine cannot boast of intelligent, conscientious and just leaders but instead criminals saddled with the responsibility of wrecklessly looting the treasury with unprecedented impunity at the expense of the poor citizens with whose mandate they operate. How pathetic. Not one honest person in the National Assembly,Cabinet Ministers or Federal Executive Council but greedy individuals utilising this vacuum as a means to strap themselves to power for their selfish gains by manipulating the polity. Its a shame.
yar'adua
i do not believe in hear say until he is discharge,he should allow his vb to carry on
Nigeria is a great and cannot
Nigeria is a great and cannot manage to function properly without a president esp for a long time.So many thing has gone out of control because of the absence of Mr President. For example the Niger Delta militant has threatened to resume fresh war in the oil rich area. The jos crisis has also remained unabated and several other issues that demands urgent intervention of Mr President.I Nigerians pray to God Almighty for his quick recovery.I also advice him to quickly handover to Mr vice president to act as the acting President for the purposes of national interest and progress spending when he recovers fully to resume his office.Thanks.
Not True
It;s high time he stop deceiving Nigerians and do what you suppose to do . May God help you!
A FAILED AND CONFUSED LEADERS
I am a patriot and lover of my father's land. Our leaders has failed the corporate existence of our country. A Nation whose integrity is questioned by comity of nations and nobody to speak for us.For 78 days Nigerians has been fooled by their leaders but a enough is enough.THE NORTH CABALS AND THE FACELESS CABALS SHOULD ALLOW THE VICE PRESIDENT TO ACT FOR THE INTEREST OF PEACE AND UNITY

Nigeria President re-emerges after seven-week absence
My believe that is because of your health condition, that why they are fighting in some part of Nigeria like the christain's and muslim's, because your going to finialy handover to a christain civilan as the new President of nigeria, better you take good ccare of your self you have tried as a good man to sever your country, give your life a chance for more life to live in you, you can still be in better sit's, someday, but health first.
Have a nice day sir.

The end is near for Nigeria!!
It's about time that the world wake up and find a 'peaceful' means of getting the so called Nigeria back to the 1914 boarders, to allow the true independence to take place.
If any world community thinks it can allow its country to go without HEAD for so long and counting while hypocrites and criminal gangs takes charge, then they can keep quiet, but for those countries that will not accept such and those who believes that such is a final nail on a coffin of a NO STATE, should rise now and speak out!!
If not the impending Tsunami that is gathering momentum will not augur well for the world at large. The world should try to imagine an exodus of over 150 million!! The Somali that are less than 10 Million seem to be everywhere since the unending war in that country..
Act Now and Save the World!!

Thank God
I want to appreciate God for this opportunity given to our president to able to regain his strenght atleast to be able to communicate with us back home and i sincerely pray that God in his infinite mercy will grant our president Umar Musa Yar'adua a fast and perfect health. To my fellow nigerians let us excersice patient as it is the only key to a greater achievement. Thank you all.
intersting
interesting that all we can say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yar Aduas illness
Iam suprising debating on an undebatable issue. Nigeria is not a jungle. We have a constitution that is regulating the affairs of the country. There is no any apple of dicord in this. And those bunch of liars in the name of govt officials, they should remember that Nigeria is beyond the iterest of one person. Muhammad Auwal Aliyu from Zaria.
subject for investigation
yadua is playing game which most nigerians is not aware pjs he is subjet for investigation
nigeria now or never
l am a concerned citizen of my beloved country that has over 150million people, but the present health condition of our present president has turned the hope of millions of its citizens into a very big risk in there different bussineses, call a spade a spade, hes is down, not at all in good health, not absolutly able to continue with his duties as the president, but tribal interest is about to put a great nation into a muddy situation,Aaron Sharon of isreal was sick at his own time, but his country must continue even in his absence. change is what we need, the vice must go on as contituted, or we might face a new econimical dissaster. save Nigeria now or BIAFRA will grow from any angle. MOORE
Yar'Adua is a Selfish Man
It is selfishness that made Yar'Adua illness complicated because he was not intelligent enough to give full definition of President and his responsibilities rather than how to share the National Cake. As a leader, you must undergo a lots of strengths and if you are not in healthiness definitely you are death.
SATUS OF SEC 145 OF THE CONSTITUTION
What remains unraffled is the status quo of the section of the constitution,is it voluntary or obligatory for the President to communicate to the assembly in writting? If the latter is the answer then Yar Adua should be questioned accordingly.
ALHAJI TURAI YAR 'ADUA
SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN THE PRESIDENT, THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT EASY GETTING THE CANDY OF THE BABY.
