Former Mubarak PM, Muslim Brotherhood candidate to face off in second round

Ahmed Shafiq, who served as premier under ousted leader Hosni Mubarak, will face off against the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Mursi in Egypt's June 16-17 presidential run-off, the official MENA news agency reports.

School killing raises security questions

This week, like in much of Europe, France has been struggling with heavy snowfall and freezing conditions. Also in the news: a teenager at a suburban school is stabbed to death by a classmate, raising questions over the necessity of security checks in schools. School stabbing

Why do we stick plasters over social ills instead of dealing with the causes. Teenagers/children are bombarded daily with violent images on the tv, in computer games (I saw a computer game where you are congratulated for becoming a mass murderer??!!). This same bombardment of images is what is used in basic brainwashing techniques. We need to stop putting these images in the heads of our childrenwho are not mature enough to process them and who have less moral buffers than previous generations.Things can only get worse.
