Laurent Blanc likely to be next French football manager
FRENCH PRESS REVIEW: Le Parisien says the Bordeaux manager will more than likely take over from Raymond Domenech as the French football manager but not until after the South Africa World Cup this summer.
According to this morning’s le Parisien, Laurent Blanc has already entered talks with the French Football Federation about taking over management of Les Bleus after the World Cup. Blanc, 44, played 97 times on the French national team and was part of the 1998 World Cup winning side. He is said to be happy to take over from Raymond Domenech if he is picked for the job. As it stands, Gérard Houllier - one of the most influential bosses in the FFF who is responsible for training the players - has given Blanc his backing. So too has Michel Platini another influential figure in French football and a former head of the FFF.
Raymond Domenech has been broadly criticized for his management style and the sports paper l’Equipe recently called for him to stand down in advance of the World Cup.
