French regional elections: victory for the left?
The verdict is in for the first round of the French regional elections. Today, the opposition socialists have a broad smile on their face after scoring around 30% and beating the ruling conservative UMP party. But the right counters that reading too much into this election is a mistake, since it is a local poll and one which was marked by a record abstention rate, at 53.65%.
