Thailand sees red

Thailand once again faces political instability as thousands of red-shirted anti-government protesters take to the streets of Bangkok, demanding fresh elections. The 'red shirts', as they are dubbed, are supporters of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, ousted by a military coup in 2006. How should these latest protests be interpreted?
