The Franco-German alliance has been the heart and soul of the European Union. So this week's open feud was all the more surprising. French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde criticized German's export-based economy, urging it to lower taxes in order to boost domestic consumption and help the EU's recovery. This comes as the EU struggles to design a rescue package for Greece.
