Relations between Israel and the United States are at their lowest ebb since 1975. The cause of the spat: a poorly or deliberately-timed housing initiative by the Israeli government, announced during a visit by US Vice President Joe Biden. All efforts so far by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to placate the Americans have failed. So what can we expect to happen now?
