Albert Maysles: the godfather of documentary
Today in culture, Eve Jackson meets Albert Maysles who was once described by Jean-Luc Godard as 'the best American cameraman'. Him and his brother were a documentary team whose films told stories for the first time without scripts, sets or narration. Their work includes cult classics like 'Salesman', 'Gimme Shelter' and 'Grey Gardens'.

Eve Jackson - the best!
Just found France24 on WNYE-TV in NYC and am hooked. Especially enjoy Ms Jackson's reports, her interview with Albert Maysles being but the latest. For a culture reporter, she pulls no punches. Why do so many other arts and culture reporters always acting like fawning toadies, enamored with their guests instead of remembering they are still journalists?
A bientot,
