A French-sponsored film festival was currently held in Cairo. On the program, a short movie by a young Israeli director. Upon learning this, three Egyptian members of the jury pulled out. The French authorities initially said they would take the movie off the program before changing their minds and criticizing Cairo's attitude. The relationship remains frayed.
