Brown’s day from hell

It was the mother of all gaffes and cast the Prime Minister as two-faced and insincere. All of today’s British dailies lead with Gordon Brown’s “bigot” comment in reference to the now infamous Gillian Duffy, a pensioner he was filmed having a frank but friendly conversation with just moments earlier. THURSDAY, 29th APRIL 2010

Articles in today’s international papers:

British front pages covering Brown’s gaffe: The Independent, The Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, The Guardian

“She only nipped out for a loaf but left Brown in a right jam”: The Guardian

Several British columnists said that the gaffe was revealing of Brown’s character: The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph

The Murdoch-owned Sky News released the audio of Brown’s gaffe and the Murdoch-owned The Sun was not any kinder: The Sun

Most of the tabloid press took Gillian Duffy’s side: The Daily Mail

The spreading contagion of Greece’s “junk” credit-rating makes the front page of El Pais in Spain while the Daily Telegraph’s Jeremy Warner says the world would be a better place without credit rating agencies.
