Germany's baby bust
Europe’s average fertility rate is 1.5 babies per woman – not enough to renew the generations naturally. Germany is Europe’s laggard, with just 1.4 children per woman, while France is among the most prolific baby producers. So why is France doing so much better than its neighbour?
