The Greek government on Monday adopted a draft bill to overhaul the pension system, the country's labour minister, told AFP. Trade unions warned they would launch a wave of protests against the plan.

AFP - The Greek government on Monday adopted a draft bill to overhaul the pension system, the labour minister told AFP, as trade unions warned they would launch a wave of protests against the plan.

"Of course the plan was adopted," Labour Minister Andreas Loverdos said.

Greece has launched a series of draconian austerity measures in recent weeks in order to avoid a debt default and to be eligible for emergency loans from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.
