Judge Garzon's suspension divides the Spanish
Baltasar Garzon, the Spanish judge who indicted former Chilean dictator General Pinochet, and pressed charges against Osama bin Laden over the 9/11 attacks, has been suspended from his duties. Critics say he's overstepped his jurisdiction by investigating disappearances during the Franco era, despite a 1977 amnesty law. But others have championed his high-profile crusades.

Bad news!
Suspension of Judge Baltasar Garzón - illegal
Judge Baltasar Garzón should be reinstated immediately. Spain has made itself the laughing stock on the international stage by suspending and attempting to torpedo his career.
As far as I can ascertain, he is right to attempt to investigate any wrongdoing where there has been illegal enforced disappearances of political activists and civilians.
We have seen that in places like Argentina, Africa, etc, where there has been poor resolution of the issues, there is a constant festering sore. This is especially the case for the family and friends of the disappeared.
Not only that, but if there are hundreds of thousands of people who have been disappeared, then we want to know where they are, if they are safe, and if not what happened to them.
Those of us in the UK who are concerned with Human Rights issues, want Judge Garzón to continuw with his work without any external interference or harassment. We support him and his team in their all their good endeavours.
