France: should the burqa be banned?

The French justice minister has set out before her fellow ministers the reasons behind a bill that is to be presented to MPs in July and that could become law by the autumn. This bill would have for effect the banning of the full Islamic veil, not just in administrations and schools but anywhere public in France. Should the full veil be banned?

Thats a new argument I have

Thats a new argument I have not seen. Please explain yourself more. How does covering your face protect you from spousal/ masculine abuse exactly. I am not trying to be offensive I just want to understand.

Burqa Ban

The problem of the burqa is best solved by Muslim women. If France were to spend the next 20 years making it safe and accessible for Muslim women to report abusive and illegal behavior in their families and community, the cultural connections would be forged to create a socially progressive atmosphere in which the burqa would gradually disappear. When women feel safe and supported we feel less necessity to hide behind veils. In the meantime, why deny us the comfort of whatever garment we feel necessary to protect our safety and privacy?
