The verdict is in for the Cannes film festival. While the top prize, the Palme d'Or was awarded to a Thaï director, France won a batch of honors, including best actress for Juliette Binoche, second-best movie for Xavier Beauvois and best directing for Mathieu Amalric. So was Cannes a Gallic triumph or merely the tree hiding the forest?
