Colombia: continuity or change?

The results are almost all in and the polls seem to have got it wrong. Far from scraping through to victory, Juan Manuel Santos, the former Colombian defence minister, has won decisively in the first round. With almost all the ballots counted, Santos is credited with around 47% of the vote. His main rival, Antanas Mockus of the Green Party, achieved 21%.
