Interactive: Experience daily life for Gaza residents

It’s difficult for many to imagine everyday life for a resident of the Gaza strip. Under an Israeli blockade since 2007 following Hamas’s rise to power, this 362-square-kilometre enclave of 1.5 million inhabitants is in need of just about everything. Beset by shortages, its inhabitants need to be patient and resourceful in order to fulfill everyday tasks like getting drinking water or buying medicines.

Experience life as it would be for two imaginary Gaza residents confronted by everyday difficulties: Talal, an experienced entrepreneur, and Ahmad, an ordinary bureaucrat.

The criteria that we have used to illustrate the lives of our two characters can evolve. Don’t hesitate to share your experiences of Gaza or to remark on specific points in the comments below.

Nice try, but you're only partially informing your readers

The Interactive Experience is exceedingly narrow-minded. The influence of Hamas's religious tyranny on the personal liberties of Gazans in general, but Christians in particular, receives no mention here, even though human rights organizations have warned that Hamas routinely uses terrorism to control the population of Gaza. Also, if you're opposed to Hamas's control and support dialog with Israel, you and family will likely be tortured and executed. That is the reality in Gaza, but it's understandable that you won't include it here - after all, the point is always to vilify Israel, not practice honest journalism.
