the stairs

When I came back from Roger Hodgson marvelous concert last month, I told my son: Roger Hodgson has just given me a present I would never imagine. He asked me, “the songs?” No, more than that. He gave me true hope. Hope that aging can be positive, can be constructive.
In a fabricated world, where old equals garbage, going up the stairs of aging can be really scary, specially for women. In fact, as we grow older, our society makes us go downstairs – in the direction of our graves, dying a little, every step we take.
So on May 14th I was going downstairs, in my 44 steps when I meet this great human being, an artist I have been following since I was 14. That he’s a great artist I’ve always known. What really surprised me that evening was that he is also growing old, but he’s going up the stairs! He’s improving: his voice is delightful, his presence on stage is way better, his posture is upright yet gentle (I bet due much more to learning how to handle life than to yoga or Pilates practices), he has a lot of energy (wish I had half), he’s got a kind sense of humor and he has much more love and peace in his eyes, which he doesn’t keep to himself. Which he is happy to give all the way around in his tours.
So that night I thought growing old can be nice, can be colorful. I just have to remember Roger Hodgson showing us how to go upstairs!
Roger Hodgson, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
May God always bless you,

Fernanda

Attend a concert of Roger Hodgson

Attend a concert of Roger Hodgson is something nobody should miss. He loves his music and it’s showed in every performance. He’s the best voice around, and it sounds better than ever. If you want to experience Supertramp sound, undoubtedly, a concert of Roger is the best place to get it, because he has been and remains its soul, its heart and essence. And of course, I can’t forget how lovely he is with all his fans, always with a smile is his face. He is an amazing artist and a great person.
With his solo shows is able to share the intimacy of the songs in their original form, in the same way he wrote them. Described as an orchestra of one man, Roger plays 12-string guitars, piano and keyboards with a full sound incredible. The magic of the performances of Roger reminds us that music has touched our lives.
Roger Hodgson is one of the contemporary pop world great talents and it’s well worth making the effort to see his show, pay homage and be thoroughly entertained by a quality individual.

I attended Roger's solo

I attended Roger's solo concert a couple of months ago, and I was blown away by his art; it was the best live music experience of my life. I'm saddened about the disagreements he has with Supertramp. It is not true that the band is using Roger's voice to promote the tour. If you go to ST's website you'll see a promotional video where segments of may ST songs are included. The songs that Roger wrote are sung in the video by Mark Hart. The ST website also makes it clear that Roger won't be in the tour. Fans know very well that Roger left the band in 1983, so I don't see what the confusion is. The "verbal agreement" is something the Roger has been talking about since 1997 or so... but it was never mentioned by anybody between 1983 and 1997. Rick has never confirmed there was such an agreement. I'm not saying that either Roger or Rick is lying, but given that they have a dispute, we can't readily accept what either party says. I lover them both, I'll always hope for a reunion, and I refuse to take sides in their squabble.

Hmmmm - not so humble...

Roger Hodgson

Roger still has a great persona and his songs are part of the fabric of our being. Hopefully he will have a US tour!!!!

Roger Hodgson Interview

Wow, wow....So love to see Roger and hear his voice. Very sad about the Supertramp controversy for I so love the music of both artists. Rick has written so many songs of his own no one else could perform like he does, how can he believe he could replace Roger's voice, talent. Very heartbreaking......thankfully, both can be heard this year offering the us the music that we love, so, so sadly it's not going to be on the same stage.........

Roger

Wonderful interview! Roger's music is timeless. His voice is better than ever, and his live shows are incredible. Everyone should make an effort to see him on his tour this year. Check his website, www.RogerHodgson.com, for his tour schedule. You won't be sorry!

Re-broadcast?

Since I missed it, it will be re-broadcasted, maybe on weekend?

Roger Hodgson - The voice of Supertramp

One of the most wonderful persons in this world .. and a most brilliant musician, singer, songwriter .. I have seen Roger Hodgson several times live in concert, every time I enjoyed a very special performance, one should really not miss if getting a chance to see that amazing artist live, it's a 'different' experience, Roger uses to put all his heart into a show, he sings and plays his songs from a deep place inside him and one can feel that ! He gives so much for his fans, for the whole audience, and I always got the impression people leave the venue after a Roger Hodgson concert with a huge smile on their faces, a smile that lasts longer than usual - I found a special expression to describe that feeling ... I always feel 'rogerized' after Roger's shows, and it just feels great :)))

Roger in Paris

Hi,

I just got my tickets for Roger's show in Paris - Sept 24 at the Palais des Congres. I hear he is also performing in the Provinces this year. What a treat for France! I took my 16 year old to see him last year and she knew almost all the songs. I still remember the first album I bought with my own money - It was Breakfast in America and still have it! If you get a chance to see Roger Hodgson live it's well worth it. It's the best concert I ever remember going to. Welcome back to France Roger!

Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp

Wonderful interview with Roger Hodgson. I had the great fortune of catching Roger's show in Paris last year while I was on holiday. Stunning is putting it mildly. The audience was his from start to finish. Roger performed many of his timeless classics he solely wrote and composed such as Dreamer, Give a Little Bit, The Logical Song, Breakfast in America, Take the Long Way Home, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture, and so very many more. He also performed some brilliant material from his solo albums. Honestly, Roger's voice sounds even better today than when he was with Supertramp (if that's possible). Give yourself a tremendous gift and see Roger Hodgson live in concert. Not only will you witness what very well may be the best concert you've ever seen, you will be left with a feeling of warmth and comfort. He's that good. Roger is in the midst of his worldwide tour. I am going to make it my mission to see him at least once this summer. For tour information, visit is website at www.RogerHodgson.com.
