I just saw the debate on television. As an non-European living in Paris I totally agree with Jyllands-Posten perspective of France being a 'banana republic'. Unfortunately most in France are unable to be self-critical therefore the country is in a state of stagnation. On this point, and much to the horror of the French, I see very little difference between Italy and France on many levels; though the difference being that the Italians are more self-critical albeit suffering from similar stagnation. I thought Stefan Simmons, Jyllands-Posten. and Aske Munck held a well rounded debate, however the other member on the panel appeared erratic and made many ludicrous overly emotional and off the track comments. It was a great debate on many levels for me.
