Authorities on alert as heat wave hits France

Le Parisien and France Soir lead with the current sizzling temperatures in France. Meteorologists predict that the summer will continue with above average temperatures. Authorities are on alert so as to avoid a repeat of the high rates of fatality amongst the elderly seen in the particularly severe 2003 heat wave. Elsewhere, Le Figaro leads with poll results showing a surprising 88% of French people are in favour of austerity measures. FRIDAY, 2nd JULY 2010
