In today’s international press review, we focus on the meeting between Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu. Both men met in Washington yesterday and vowed to deal with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

IN THE PAPERS

The Wall Street Journal prints a symbolic photo. As opposed to their previous meeting, Barack Obama and Bejamin Netanyahu shook hands yesterday.
 
For the Miami Herald, the two leaders “patched up their differences… at least in public.”
 
Meanwhile, The Jerusalem Post claims Obama changed his attitude towards Israel because he realised his policies in the Middle East were “simply not working”. 
 
Just as Netanyahu landed in Washington, a report revealed that 42% of the West Bank is controlled by Israel. The Independent reports on this.
 
In other news, British forces are expected to pull out of the Sangin district in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. The Guardian explains that a third of British troops posted there have died.
 
And finally, Spain faces Germany in the World Cup semi-finals tonight. Der Tagesspiegel predicts a 4-0 victory. As for the Spanish newspaper El Pais, it claims “Spain will defy the German machinery”.
