“Sarkozy, speak out!”

In today’s press review, we look at the publication of Liliane Bettencourt’s ledger. The document came out after Bettencourt’s former accountant accused several politicians of receiving illegal donations.

The left wing newspaper Libération is urging President Sarkozy to shed light on the case. It criticises the way the Government reacted to the crisis and urges politicians not to “shoot the messenger”. According to the editorial, France’s relationship with money differs from the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, the right-wing newspaper Le Figaro talks about the “Matignon Shield”, referring to François Fillon. The French Prime Minister told fellow MPs that we would defend the Republic.

Meanwhile, La Croix reveals that visas are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. And finally, Le Figaro reports about the construction of a new “Art Island” in Paris.
