French hostage: a civilian who "wanted to help"
While his abductors claimed they executed French humanitarian Michel Germaneau, on Monday morning France had not yet confirmed his death.
Michel Germaneau is on the front page of most French newspapers today, including Libération, Le Figaro and Aujourd’hui en France.
The Al Qaeda branch in Mali claimed they killed Germaneau to avenge the deaths of six of their fighters killed in a raid last week.
In other news, the Spaniard Alberto Contador won the Tour de France on Sunday. Le Parisien, La Croix, France Soir and L’Equipe all cover this story.
And finally, Aujourd’hui en France reveals a busy summer for French political parties.
