Couple arrested after police find eight dead new-born babies
Police have arrested a couple in their mid-40s after finding the bodies of eight new-born babies in the village of Villers-au-Tertre, in northern France. The couple are to appear before a French investigative magistrate on Thursday.

REUTERS - A 47-year-old woman was placed under official investigation for the suspected killing of eight new-born babies and concealing them in a village in northern France, a judicial source said on Thursday.
The woman and her husband, also in his forties, have been held in custody since the bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags at two different sites in Villers-au-Tertre, about 200 kilometres (125 miles) north of Paris.
The case could be the worst infanticide in France since a 38-year-old woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing six babies at their birth between 2000-2007 in March.
The woman was placed under formal investigation, the first stage before criminal charges, for “voluntary murder of minors under the age of 15,” the source said. The babies were discovered by police on Tuesday in the sleepy village of 650 residents.

OK as far as I'm aware abortion in almost every country where it is legal has a time limit less than 25 weeks which is time limit within which the fetus cannot survive outside the womb, so to compare infanticide to abortion is pretty ridiculous.

Is it surprising that some people would not see the clear delineation between abortion and infanticide? Theoretically they could be within seconds of each other at a birth. Our new world morals show a disdain for the sanctity of life. It's sad.

Why be so guache and insensitive by arresting her? Why not require multiple therapy sessions, let alone an interview by CNN, so as to better understand her?

I guess if she had a parial birth abortion the day before going into spontaneous labor, that would have been ok, right? The day before that would have been "her choice", but 24 hours later that's murder. Got it.

What surprises me is the 38 year old only got 15 years in prison for killing 6 babies. In the U.S. they would kill that monster and she deserves. 15 years is a joke.

The culture of abortion and the dismissal of motherhood as an honorable duty is partly to blame for this. The only other explanation is the pairing or evil/mentally insane people.

There's nothing wrong with being pro-choice, or taking initiative. I commend both of them for being so independent and taking matters into their own hands. Why this is illegal is beyond me... I have high hopes the Obama administration will make some REAL progress and let us all get past this petty red tape in America. It's MY body, MY house, MY life.
