'Ground Zero mosque' debate heats up

In New York, a row is growing over a proposed mosque near Ground Zero, where close to 3,000 people died in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. President Barack Obama has waded into the controversy, but not very presidentially. He firmly backed the project at a Ramadan dinner last Friday, but the next day he distanced himself from it.

the Mosque at ground zero

just watched your program. Why did you not have someone who disagree with your panel. I know about the Islamic religion, my nephew is married to a muslin. People disagree in America not about the Mosque, but the sensitivity of where it is suppose to be built, you are insulting people , because they disagree, does not mean their are ignorant. We feel it is a lack of sensitivity on the part of the Iman to want to put the Mosque there. May be the American people would appreciate and realize that not all Muslins are terrorits if they would change the area. Put the Mosque at ground zero is like rubbing, the still open wounds with salt; if they would change their mind, where they want to put the Mosque, people might feel differently about the Muslins. Remember when the carmalites wanted to built a convent next to Auschitz, the jewish people objected and the Pope agreed not to built it there. Wake up, not all the people that protest are sick or extreme right.
