French papers slam US record in Iraq

The editorials of Le Figaro and Libération are for once on the same wavelength. Both are highly critical of the US-led war in Iraq on the day after the official pullout of troops. Is the war really over when 50,000 troops remain, asks Le Figaro. Libération for its part says some victories are just as costly as a defeat. These and other stories in today’s French press review: FRIDAY, 20th AUGUST 2010

Articles in today’s French press review:

Le Figaro: “The real or false pullout from Iraq” (+ editorial)

Libération: “Has the war been won?” (+ editorial)

La Voix du Nord: Editorial critical of deportation of Roma

Libération: Opinion piece charting the history of gypsies in France, arguing that “they are part of us”.

Le Parisien: 25 French teenagers ‘deported’ back to France!
