Labour Minister Eric Woerth dragged deeper into controversy
FRENCH PAPERS, Friday, 3rd September 2010: With just days to go before Parliament debates Sarkozy’s flagship retirement reform bill, the minister charged with seeing it through is in hot water. Eric Woerth has now admitted sending a letter to Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007 arguing for the Legion of Honour to be bestowed on a party donor, Patrice de Maistre. Woerth had previously told police that he had in no way lobbied on behalf of Maistre.
