Koran burning: too much media attention?

A couple of weeks, you had never heard of Terry Jones, the pastor of a very small church in the middle of Florida. But if you watch television, even a little bit, you're now familiar with his mustache and his controversial calls to burn the Coran on the anniversary of 9-11. Until he renounced his initiative under pressure from U.S. authorites, he had become a media darling and some critics say we journalists are actually reponsible for giving him an undue platform..

Koran burning: too much media attention?

The answer is in your headline. "Too much media attention".
As the news media loses credibility so goes quality news. What is it that the editors don't get? Must all forms turn to tabloid sensationalism to pitch their poison? Who do we turn to for responsible journalism? Why has reporting turned into such immediate hype driven drivel? It is frightening to me that I can no longer count on the "standard" news sources of the past for trust worthy news today.
